You know that time of year after the cold dark months when the temperature hits above 5 degrees and everyone starts wearing shorts and t-shirts, but really it’s much too cold for that? It typically happens in March or April, depending on what coast you live on, and it’s honestly just quite unfortunate because there are so many ways to dress for the sunnier months without suffering when it’s still cold out.
If you’re like me, then you’re a jacket hoarder, and right now there’s probably a million jackets and lightweight coats you can pick up in stores. Take my outfit in this post: I bought this tailored Zara coat, which is unlined, making it perfect for 5-15 degree type weather (pretty technical here). To keep warm, you can layer with a scarf or a sweater, but if the thermometer jumps, go bare with just a blouse under, like I did here. To keep the look fresh for spring, I recommend playing with lighter colours and textures. This is also the perfect time to show off a little ankle (scandalous, I know!) and rock your favourite boyfriend or mom jeans (cuffed or cut if you’re shorter) and white sneaks (I fully have to give a shout out to Damn Daniel for being the inspiration behind my white Vans :)).
