I’ve been into the whole ’90s throwback trend with clothes these days and this look is no exception. My favourite way to style these mom jeans is to tuck in a fitted shirt on top and throw on a pair of Vans or low block heels for a more sophisticated look.
With summer coming up I’m excited for (a) the rain to stop here in Vancouver and (b) to break out the off-the-shoulder tops and breezy dresses that can be thrown on in the morning in under a minute. The warm weather is apparently supposed to come next week, so stay tuned for summer content here on the blog.
I do quite like the holidays, don’t get me wrong. However, I don’t think you need to dress overly festive. Partly because it’s a waste of money to buy something you only wear once, but also because I don’t think you need to wear metallics or sequins when the holidays come around. Subtle details can work wonders, my friends.
This outfit is really not that festive. The only thing I did was add a fancy choker, as well as red nails and lips to make it more in line with the holidays. I paired one of my favourite ruffled blouses with a pair of classic Levi’s that I wear almost everyday.
The outfit without the choker is something I would wear for a night out regardless of the time of year, which is exactly how you should be putting together your wardrobe! For those who are left scratching their heads while getting dressed for a holiday event, here is an outfit formula for you:
Crisp white blouse + a pair of classic washed denim + a good heel + red lips = easy holiday outfit.

So I have something embarrassing to admit: I have a penchant for really bad rom coms.
One of my recent favourites was How to Be Single with Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson. Probably a huge reason why I like the movie so much is because Dakota Johnson is one of my biggest style icons on and off screen and the movie took place in NYC (I swear, any movie or TV show that takes place in New York is always a good one).
In one scene she wore this bomber that I never ever forgot about. It looked like this Saint Laurent Jacket, which Aritzia recently did their own variation on (that I obviously swiped up ASAP). In this post I decided to pare down the feminine vibe of this polka dot mini dress with the bomber and a pair of patent leather ankle boots. Anyone close to me knows that I have a talent for making something sexy look the very opposite (think Man-Repeller style).
