Everyday Casual: What to Wear to Brunch

Last week I got together with a couple friends to hit up Saving Grace, one of my all-time favourite brunch spots in Toronto. Located on Dundas West near Trinity Bellwoods, this family-run bodega is small and cozy, only able to sit around twenty, and the food is beyond killer.

The fuss-free interior allows for the food to take first place. Serving up a selection of their own classics alongside a chalkboard filled with a number of daily specials, the menu has something for everyone. My personal favourite to start is the esprassado—an avocado espresso smoothie. I usually try something different each time I go, but the menu consists of all your brunch staples—eggs, pancakes, and waffles—with their own unique twist (think Carrot Cake Waffles with Cream Cheese Frosting).  Another must is the French Toast with Caramelized Bananas—ask for the half order and split it with a friend (you won’t be sorry!).

For my outfit I went with something casual but still put together. The high-waisted Wilfred pants I’m wearing are actually flannel and will keep your legs warm in the winter. I paired them with a simple T-shirt and this topcoat from J.Crew and finished off the look with a giant scarf for added warmth and these Adidas Stan Smiths.

A few friendly tips: I wouldn’t recommend going to Saving Grace on the weekend unless your willing to wait it out or arrive early. As this is one of the more popular brunch spots, this place gets busy fast. In terms of payment methods they only take debit cards or cash.
